HS-07. The Black Panthers

USA, Feature Documentary, 2015, 113 min

Cities were burning, Vietnam was exploding, and disputes raged over equality and civil rights. A new revolutionary culture was emerging and the Black Panther Party would, rightly or wrongly, put itself at the vanguard of that change. Master documentarian Stanley Nelson ( Freedom Riders ) goes straight to the source, weaving a treasure of rare archival footage with the voices of the people who were there: police, FBI infor - mants, journalists, outside supporters and detractors, along with Black Panther loyalists and those who left the Party. Be - cause the participants from all sides were so young in the ?60s and ?70s, they are still around to share sometimes shocking firsthand stories that some would say we are reliving today.
