Giant Little Ones

Canada, Feature Film, 2018, 94 min

... a confidently shot and beautifully acted story that shows how the Millennial generation experiences sexuality, ostracism and growing up... The Hollywood Reporter

Franky Winter and Ballas Kohl are high school royalty: handsome stars of the swim team and popular with girls. They live the perfect teenage life until the night of Franky's 17th birthday party when Franky and Ballas's long time friendship becomes physically intimate. Word gets out, Franky is named as the aggressor and he becomes the subject of catcalls from his former friends, now bullying homophobes. As Franky deepens his understanding of himself, he is forced to reckon with the anger he has held towards his father, Ray (Kyle MacLachlan) who left his mother, Carly (Maria Bello) for a man. Giant Little Ones is a sensitive and touching look at the often cruel paradox of adolescent freedom and the pressure to conform.
