Aaron Brookner’s earliest memory is sitting on his Uncle Howard Brookner's lap, at the age of six, while his uncle directed an important scene with Madonna and Randy Quaid on the set of the film Bloodhounds of Broadway. A fast-rising director, Uncle Howard died a year later of AIDS at age 34. At the time, Brookner was best known for his debut film, Burroughs: The Movie, and, 20 years later, Aaron Brookner made an astonishing discovery in William S. Burroughs? bunker: 300 cans of film, long-lost footage of Burroughs, Patti Smith, Allen Ginsberg, Brion Gysin, Paula Court, Terry Southern, Andy Warhol, Spike Lee, John Waters, Francis Bacon, Matt Dillon and more. Joining Aaron on this artistic quest is none other than indie pioneer, Jim Jarmusch. Uncle Howard reveals a portrait of the tumultuous creative life in New York, and the struggles, and untimely death, of Howard Brookner.
