SUMMARY:CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap (ET-02)
DESCRIPTION: CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap (ET-02)\nat 22nd Annual Boulder Film Festival 2016\nUSA\, 79 min.\, Feature Documentary\n\nIn one of history’s great ironies\, computer coding was invented by a woman\, Admiral Grace Hopper\, in the 1940s. Yet today\, women hold only a tiny percentage of software engineering jobs. How did this happen? Tech jobs are growing three times faster than our colleges are producing computer science graduates\, and there is a vast well of unfilled software engineering jobs in the U.S. This film takes a hard look at the reasons why more girls and people of color are not seeking careers in computer science\, and opens a dialogue on how cultural mindsets\, stereotypes\, educational hurdles and sexism play a role in this mounting crisis. No other film has attempted to capture this reality faced by a new generation of women.\n\nDirected by Robin Hauser Reynolds\nColorado Premiere\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, March 5\, 2016\, 12:15 pm\neTown Hall\nInfo & Trailer: http://m.biff1.com/event.php?event=241\nTickets: https://biff.frontgatetickets.com/event/curcgr6d5n8kuocs
