LONG-04. Obit
USA, Feature Documentary, 2016, 93 min
├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬¼├àΓÇ£There’s a question every famous person wonders, like, has The New York Times already written my obituary?├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬¼├é┬¥ VARIETY
Although nobody speaks to them at parties, the legendary obituary writers at The New York Times are a pretty funny bunch. Yes, they have pre-written your obituary if you are famous, old, have made big contributions to your field or if you’re young and daring. They intensely dislike surprises, like the sudden deaths of famous people under 60 years old (2016 was a bad year). It’s truly amazing what goes on in the obit room at the paper, where obits have become some of the best writing in world journalism. This film invites some of the most essential questions we ask ourselves about life, memory and the inevitable passage of time.
