The Last Laugh

USA, Feature Documentary, 2016, 88 min

A group of famous Jewish comedians got together to help make a movie about the outer limits of comedy. The question is: Has enough time gone by to make it okay to tell a joke about the Holocaust? It’s probably all right to tell a joke about the Inquisition, but the Holocaust? This humorous film features interviews and performances with Mel Brooks, Sarah Silverman, Gilbert Gottfried, Louis CK, Joan Rivers, Carl and Rob Reiner, and Chris Rock, plus Holocaust survivor Renee Firestone, who offers a bitterly funny anecdote involving an encounter with the real Josef Mengele. The Last Laugh offers fresh insights into the outer limits of comedy in a way never seen before.
