LONG-01. The Euphoria of Being
Hungary, Feature Documentary, 2019, 83 min
A very moving work of art. In her words, her movements and her simple being, one gets a distillation of the human spirit at its strongest.

Alone, Eva Fahidi returned home to Hungary after WWII. At 20, she had survived Auschwitz while 49 members of her family were murdered, including her mother, father and little sister. Today, at age 90, Eva is asked to participate in a dance theatre performance about her life's journey. This would be her first experience performing on a stage, and Réka, the director, imagines a duet between the surprisingly limber Eva and a young, acclaimed dancer, Emese. Eva agrees immediately. While the dramatic moments of Eva's life are distilled into theatrical scenes, a truly powerful relationship is formed. Three women—three months—and a story of crossing many boundaries.
