Hungary, Feature Film, 2019, 88 min

Hungary's submission to the 2020 Academy Awards / Shortlisted for the 2020 Academy Awards

Having survived the camps, 42-year old Aldo lives a solitary life as a doctor in Budapest. Outspoken 16-year-old Klara lives with her great aunt and is still writing long letters to her father and mother, hoping they will return. She meets Aldo, a father-daughter relationship begins, and the joy in both of their lives slowly returns. But, as the Soviet Empire rises to power, their relationship is misunderstood and they are investigated by the Communist government. A lyrical story of the healing power of love in the midst of conflict, loss and trauma. Subtitled.
