Italy, 1900. Young Agata’s baby is stillborn and, because the baby had never drawn a breath, the priest refuses to give her a name or a burial place, and her soul is forever condemned to Limbo (nothingness). Agata hears about a small Catholic Church in the mountains where, in a ceremony, infants can be brought back to life for just one breath, be baptized, given a name and their soul sent to heaven (a true custom). She undertakes a journey with her daughter’s small body hidden in a box and meets Lynx, a solitary boy who has keen survival smarts, and they set off on an adventure in hope of a miracle. This stunning film is old-fashioned folklore, filled with magic in the air and spirits everywhere. Subtitled.
