Spotlight on the 2026 Sundance Film Festival

From deep behind enemy lines comes a long-buried chapter of American military history. After fifty years of silence, the Vietnam War’s first all-Black special operations team reunites to tell their extraordinary story. Operating in the shadows during one of the war’s most volatile years, these soldiers carried out covert missions while confronting danger abroad and injustice at home. Through gripping firsthand accounts, the film uncovers a powerful legacy of courage, brotherhood, and resilience that history nearly forgot. At its heart is Ed Emmanuel, whose memoir Soul Patrol recounts his tour in Vietnam and anchors an emotional reunion. As the men confront memories long suppressed, the film asks a profound question: Can facing the past finally bring peace to those who lived it?
