Hidden in a van, 9-year-old Roman crosses the border from Ukraine to Germany to be with his mother, Oksana. But Oksana is not alone. She lives with Gert, a 62-year-old widower, working illegally as his caretaker. Oksana develops appendicitis and Gert is forced to leave her outside the hospital without papers. To escape investigation, he moves to the countryside and takes temporary care of Roman, who finds himself trapped in a remote forest. Roman is completely dependent on the widower, who has become his rival, when outrageous misfortune strikes again. Young Yelizar Nazarenko delivers an acting masterpiece. Subtitled.
